# Hypothesis Testing For Reduced Absenteeism Among Students

A prior study of high school students in New Jersey found that among all students, the mean number of days absent during the school year was 4.7. In 2000, the school decided to implement an absentee program in order to reduce the number of student absences. Afterward, school officials randomly selected 12 students and consulted their files to determine how many absences they incurred. Using α = 0.05, test the hypothesis that the program was effective in curbing absence. Be sure to include all five steps of the hypothesis test.
