Combusting Butane Gas And Calculating Composition Of Flue Gas Stream

100 m3/hr of normal butane at 25°C and 1 atm is combusted with stoichiometic amount of air in a well-insulated reactor. The hot gases are sent to a heat exchanger to provide the required heat for steam generation in a power plant. Unreacted butane is recycled back to the process as shown in the diagram below.

If the overall conversion is 100% determine the composition of the flue gas stream. Take butane as an ideal gas.

The question belongs to Chemistry and it discusses about stochiometric reaction of combusting butane gas for heat exchange and calculating the composition of flue gas stream.

Hello Allison,I love the 2nd image that you did! I also, had never heard of SumoPaint, is something that I will have to exolpre a bit! I understand completely the 52 (or so) youtube videos that you probably watched. Sometimes they have what you want, sometimes they don't! However, it is always satisfying when you are able to produce something that you have taught yourself. Great job!Debra 0 likes
