Calculate Least Radius Of Gyration and Slenderness Ratio Of Concrete Column

Question

A hollow concrete column has a rectangular cross-section with an external breadth of 300mm and an external depth of 600mm.The internal breadth is 240mm and the internal depth is 520mm.The compressive resistance of the concrete is 200 N/mm2.If the effective height of the concrete column is 2.8m, calculate:

(i) The least radius of gyration

(ii) The slenderness ratio

(iii) The maximum axial load that the column can carry

Summary

The question belongs to Physics and it discusses about calculating least radius of gyration, slenderness ratio and maximum axial load that a hollow concrete column can carry.

Hello Allison,I love the 2nd image that you did! I also, had never heard of SumoPaint, is something that I will have to exolpre a bit! I understand completely the 52 (or so) youtube videos that you probably watched. Sometimes they have what you want, sometimes they don't! However, it is always satisfying when you are able to produce something that you have taught yourself. Great job!Debra 0 likes
